...from the terrible parade’s richly sublime psychedelia and a nocturnal solo turn evolving into Sputnik’s sunny/starlit guitar pop, Alan Grandy has written, performed and recorded music that has been called “a must listen” (Alternative Press), a “jackpot pick” (CMJ New Music Report), “a nice sensation” (Melody Maker) “harmonic, hook-laden, and easy on the ear in the best sense” (Billboard), “sweetly thoughtful” (Seattle Weekly), “gorgeously drifting” (All Music Guide) and “out of this world” (Cleveland Plain Dealer).

“El Grande”, a 19-song fan-driven best-of compliation, is culled from a recent series of digital distribution-only releases (itunes, amazon mp3, et al) by Sputnik, Alan Grandy, and the terrible parade. Also included are re-mixed versions of “hello” (featured on Paste and Magnet magazine cd samplers) and “alienne” (which was heard on Fox Network TV’s “Wonderfalls”) from Sputnik’s 2004 “I, Cosmonaut” cd.

An expanded version of Grandy's 1997 solo CD "acrowno'stars" is scheduled for release July 1, 2012 on Sound of the Sea.

Sputnik’s upcoming cd “Rising”, featuring ten new Grandy-penned songs along with a cover of fellow cle scenester My Dad is Dead’s “boiling over”, is slated for release on October 17, 2012 on Sound of the Sea.
